What's on in London
October/November/December
On 11 November, St Pancras International celebrates its first birthday, and if you still haven’t gawped at its sheer magnitude, then, with the recent opening of the brasserie St Pancras Grand by Searcys, now is the time. Take refuge from winter skies in its elegant arcade, which boasts upmarket shops, cafés, and a daily farmers’ market. And it’s all just over the road from King’s Cross station.
But, weather permitting, autumn is also when London’s outdoor spaces are at their most beautiful. Try a stroll in the dappled sunlight of Kenwood House’s wooded grounds followed by a cosy pint in 16th-century The Spaniards Inn (Spaniards Road), the creaky haunt of Dick Turpin. Winter also means comfort food, so after watching the Christmas lights come on in Regent Street (around 20 November), treat yourself to steak and chips. Search out the superior chain of Gaucho grills, whose opulent interiors, well-versed staff and sensational steaks make for a magical special-occasion meal.
